About You
- Minimum 3 years local experience in commercial fit-out and refurbishment
- Advanced working knowledge of CostX and Estimate One
- Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
- Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to apply knowledge in a practical manner.
- Accomplish objectives effectively within given time frames and carry out all duties in an efficient and timely manner
- Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
The Role
The primary role of the Estimator is to calculate how much projects will cost, taking into account labour, material and equipment requirements. They will negotiate with and obtain quotes from from subcontractors and use this information to compile detailed cost proposals for our clients. The Estimator’s roles and responsibilities will encompass the following:
- Manage the development of tender estimates:
- Prepare take-offs and tender estimates
- Oversee the sending out of documents and request for fixed price quotations from subcontractors for each tender
- Site inspection for each tender
- Provide Subcontractor recommendations
- Work with the design team to develop budgets
- Submit tenders on time
- Document Control:
- Review RFT, client brief and design documents
- Prepare scope of works
- Prepare subcontractor RFT
- Review all addendums
- Respond to & review all post tender clarifications & addendums
- Risk Management:
- Analyse subcontractor quotes comparisons
- Review all subcontractor’s exclusions and clarifications
- Check lead times
- Check contractor suitability and availability
- Ensure sufficient trade coverage
- Profit creation and financial management:
- Profitability
